Last October, Mariah The Scientist appeared on Yung Miami's podcast, Caresha Please. During their chat, Mariah was asked if she had ever written songs for Lil Yachty since they have known each other for a long time. She revealed that she had, and also confirmed they previously dated. "We dated," she shared. "I met him in high school, but we started dating a bit in college." Mariah mentioned writing two songs for Lil Yachty and giving them to him on an iPod, but he didn't listen to them. "He said, 'I don't wanna Joan you,' so he didn’t want to hear them," she explained. This story differed from what Yachty told fans in 2023. Amid dating rumors, he claimed he and Mariah were just friends and criticized her for not denying the gossip. "Why do y’all keep trying me over this woman? I’ve been quiet for so long, but please stop making up this weird false narrative. And the fact Mariah let these lies go is strange to me," he wrote on X. Recently, Yachty talked about Mariah again on Shannon Sharpe's podcast, Club Shay Shay.
"I was a bad person to her, and she was amazing," he admitted. "She was really great. I get it. That’s the first time she has ever talked about us publicly. I think she was respectful and didn't put me down. I brought this on myself. She didn’t lie about anything. Shout out to her. I have a lot of love and respect for her."
