ASAP Rocky's Defense Strategy May Have Backfired

ASAP Rocky's defense strategy of claiming he fired a prop gun to scare off ASAP Relli might not have worked as planned, according to Meghann Cuniff. Deputy District Attorney Paul Przelomiec stated in the recent hearing that this admission means it will be clear that Mr. Mayers fired the gun at the scene. Last week, tension increased when prosecutors revealed they found a Glock 43 magazine in the first home Rocky shared with Rihanna. Rocky's lawyer, Joe Tacopina, was outraged by this late revelation, expressing it was one of the most frustrating moments of his career. He mentioned that an expert would need to analyze the findings. In his opening statement, Tacopina told the jury that Rocky has a legal permit to carry firearms in California but prefers to carry a fake gun to avoid hurting anyone. He explained that even though Rocky could carry a real gun, he was concerned about causing harm to himself or others. Regarding the November 2021 incident with Relli, Tacopina claimed Rocky fired the prop gun twice to warn Relli, who was attacking their friend Illijah “A$AP Illz” Ulanga. He suggested that Relli fabricated evidence to extort money from Rocky. Initially, police did not find any shell casings, but Relli provided some when he reported the incident. Tacopina pointed out that the magazine found at Rocky's home had different bullets than those Relli reported. He reminded the jury that prosecutors need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Rocky had a real gun since he is charged with assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

This update follows Rocky's rejection of a plea deal from the prosecution before the trial began. The trial will resume on Tuesday afternoon in Los Angeles. It is still unknown if Rihanna will appear in court.
