Lil Durk celebrated his 33rd birthday on Sunday, October 19th by sharing new music recorded from jail. Despite facing serious charges, including murder-for-hire, Durk released a snippet of his music and a heartfelt message to his fans.

The music, seemingly recorded during a jailhouse call, was shared on social media, where Durk expressed gratitude for his supporters. "I don't have all the words, but I'm thankful to still have a voice," he said. "Thankful for everyone who stood on love when things got heavy. I'm working on myself, working on peace, and hoping the city feels that too," he added in a message shared on X.

Durk has been in prison for almost a year, facing allegations of involvement in a 2022 attempted murder that resulted in the death of Lul Pab, cousin of rapper Quando Rondo. His attorneys have requested the dismissal of the charges, arguing that the indictment lacks specificity. They claim there is no evidence that Durk physically participated in or directly communicated with anyone involved in the attack. A hearing on the defense motion is set for November 18th.

In another jailhouse call, Durk shared a positive message, stating, "I'm doing better, man. We all get second chances," as reported by HotNewHipHop. He also expressed his desire to "lead by example" once released. His trial is scheduled to begin in January of next year, with no bond or release date currently in sight.
