Lil Wayne will headline his first show ever at Madison Square Garden to celebrate the release of his long-awaited album.
On Tuesday, April 22, Weezy F. Baby announced the details of his upcoming show at MSG in New York City. The Young Money co-founder will hit the stage on Friday, June 6, to perform songs from his new album Tha Carter VI for the first time live. Wayne dropped the pre-sale links to his forthcoming show and album. He also debuted the album's official cover art. The artwork features another childhood photo covered in face tattoos similar to Tha Carter III and Tha Carter IV.
Lil Wayne has been preparing fans for the release of Tha Carter VI for the past two years. After teasing it earlier this year, Lil Wayne revealed the release date days before Super Bowl LIX in an ad. He later opened up about the direction he took to create the album during an interview with Rolling Stone.
“If there’s one thing about this album that’s different, it’s me approaching it like, ‘Man, what would I sound like on something with such and such?’" Wayne said.
The veteran MC also confirmed a few of the collaborations fans will hear on the album. He teamed up with MGK, Elephant Man, Miley Cyrus, Andrea Bochelli, Bono of U2, his son Kameron, along with producers Ye, Wheezy and DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia. Wyclef Jean also appears on the LP and told RS that he and Weezy worked with a group of top-notch musicians for their collaboration, including New Orleans' own Jon Batiste, Ledisi, Trombone Shorty, and PJ Morton.
Pre-sale tickets for Lil Wayne's show in New York City begin April 23, and general sales start on April 25. Sign up for tickets now and look out for Tha Carter VI on June 6.
