André 3000 plans to serve up more fresh music in the new year.
On Sunday night, November 17, 3 Stacks was in Los Angeles to perform songs from his Grammy-nominated album at Camp Flog Gnaw 2024. Before he hit the Gnaw stage, the OutKast rapper sat down with Wayne "Wayno" Clark for an interview during the livestream on Amazon Prime and Twitch. At one point during their conversation, Wayno asked Andr what his vision board for 2025 looks like. The 49-year-old artist immediately replied "new music for sure."
"Yeah new ways to distribute and express," he said. "I don't want to pinpoint what it is but I just want to express more."
André Benjamin made the revelation on the one-year anniversary of his debut solo album New Blue Sun. Since it dropped last November, the Atlanta native has received plenty of positive feedback from fans and artists alike. It was so successful that he earned three Grammy nominations for the instrumental project. He was nominated for Album of the Year, Best Alternative Jazz Album and Best Instrumental Composition for his song "I Swear, I Really Wanted To Make A 'Rap' Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time."
"We were trying to be nominated in some type of way for alternative jazz or ambient, possibly," Andre told the New York Times about the nominations. "But I was totally surprised by this. So yeah, it was super, super, super duper cool."
As of this report, there's no word on what kind of music Andre is prepping for the new year. We'll have to wait and see if he makes more music with his flutes or cooks up some fresh raps for 2025.
