An R&B singer from Dallas is recovering after she was shot onstage during a show in her hometown.

According to NBC News, 26-year-old artist Jada Arnell Thomas had just wrapped up her set at The Black Academy of Arts & Letters concert in downtown Dallas on Saturday evening, November 2. Thomas remained onstage while she signed autographs for fans and praised founder TBAAL's founder and president Curtis King for his support. A few moments later, shots were fired from a woman in the audience. Thomas was rushed to a nearby hospital and was listed in stable condition.

Police apprehended Micah Wiliams, 26, after staff at the venue followed the shooter. They found her with a handgun in the lobby of a hotel near the theater. Williams was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was taken to Dallas County Jail. Police have not confirmed a motive and the investigation is still ongoing. However, Bryan Thomas Miller, a man who claims to be Thomas' brother, accused Williams of stalking the singer.

"For anyone that truly supports my sister please know that this wasnt an actor of random violence," he wrote in the comment section of Spiritual Word. "My sister has been stalked by this lady for years and she finally acted on it. My sister is recovering fighting and she will be back even better."

We hope Jada Thomas makes a full recovery. See the statement from TBAAL's founder and president Curtis King below.
