Last month school officials announced several millions of dollars was put on a freeze after Rauner vetod a $215 million dollar school funding bill. This leaves the schools with a huge gap to fill.
Thankfully, after meeting with Illinois governor Chance The Rapper decided to take action himself, in a major way. The Chicago Public School graduate announced he's donating $1 million dollars to CPS.
Chance is from Chicago and who knows better than an individual that comes from there how lack of funds can have a significant impact on the school system. For school funding to be taken away and the strain it puts on teachers that truly care about their students is saddening.
What Chance has done is both eye opening and inspirational, especially for the kids who got to witness it.
This is a wonderful example of giving back!

Thanks @chancetherapper for giving back to the Chicago community, which gave us so much. You are an example of the power of arts education.— Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) March 6, 2017
