Kodak Black Released From Jail

Kodak Black is a free man!

The 21-year-old Florida rapper — born Dieuson Octave — was released from Broward County Jail early Saturday (August 18) morning after serving 7 months of his initial yearlong sentence.

Back in April, Kodak was sentenced to one year in jail — despite initially facing 12 years behind bars — after pleading guilty to two probation violations, including driving with a suspended license and "associating with people committing crimes."

The charges stemmed from a January arrest, which came after a police raid of the "Tunnel Vision" rapper's Florida home. Authorities claimed that the raid was brought on by one of Kodak's Instagram Live posts where he was allegedly around marijuana and a firearm while in the presence of a child. He was then slapped with multiple charges including, grand theft of a firearm, two charges for possession of weapon or ammo by a felon, possession of marijuana, and child neglect without great bodily harm.

However, those five charges were eventually dropped, and his release date was moved up to August.

Kodak made the most of his time behind bars. He earned his GED, and legally changed his name to Bill K. Kapri, in an effort to have what his lawyer Bradford Cohen called a "fresh start."

After Kodak's release, he headed straight to be with his mom and son, The Blast reports.  The "Roll in Peace" rapper reportedly plans to get back in the studio as soon as he's settled.
