Nicki Minaj Is Ready To Testify In Brother's Child Sexual Assault Trial

According to Pitchfork, Nicki Minaj is set to testify in her brother Jelani Maraj's child rape trial.

During the trial on Thursday (Oct. 19), Maraj's attorney told the jury of the Nassau County Court in New York that the rape charges against his client are all a part of a big money scheme. The attorney elaborated that the mother of the victim tried to extort money from Minaj by allegedly telling the star that she would drop the charges against her brother if the rapper gave her $25 million.

Minaj will be serving as a witness for her brother. "Nicki Minaj plans to take the witness stand in defense of her brother Jelani Maraj in his on-going child rape case, a lawyer for Maraj confirmed to Pitchfork..." Pitchfork reads: "According to the lawyer, he intends to make the argument that the alleged victim and her mother tried to 'shake down' Nicki to the tune of $25 million 'to make the charges go away.'"

The New York Daily News reports that Maraj is accused her repeatedly raping the then 11-year-old for eight months. “He used her and abused her to satisfy his sick sexual desires,” said prosecutor Emma Slane, the publication reports. “... He had sex with that 11-year-old sometimes four times a week.”
